The town of Rignac turned pink on Saturday, October 3rd, for Pink October. Nearly 200 walkers responded to the call for the hikes organized to benefit the League Against Cancer of Aveyron. This solidarity morning, focused on prevention and conviviality, saw the mobilization of many residents.
In the morning, participants gathered at the Rignac community hall to take part in one of the two proposed hikes. A 10 km route started at 9:30 AM, followed by a 5 km loop at 10:30 AM. The event, organized with the support of the Rignac Country Walkers Association, generated significant interest.
Conviviality was also present, with coffee and fouace offered by the town hall before the departures. At noon, a traditional cheese soup was served, with approximately 160 portions distributed, highlighting the success of this gourmet and solidarity moment.
Beyond the sporting aspect, the day emphasized prevention and well-being. Health and wellness professionals, along with local partners, were present to inform the public. Stands and workshops on prevention, dietetics, sophrology, and energy work facilitated constructive exchanges.
This initiative underscored the importance of cancer prevention and screening, while fostering local encounters. The success of this collective mobilization is the result of the commitment of many stakeholders, including Charlotte Dijols, midwife and organizer, the walkers' association, volunteers, professionals, partner associations, the festival committee, and the Rignac town hall.
The Pays Rignacois Community of Communes commended the involvement of all and thanked the participants for their generosity, illustrating the collective dynamism of the territory.
