Following the success of its first edition, the fair is now a staple event in the town's calendar. Over 40 passionate exhibitors and artisans, including chocolatiers, pastry chefs, confectioners, winemakers, and restaurateurs from the region, will gather to share their expertise. A careful selection will highlight the authenticity and quality of local products, particularly those from the Gard Gourmand network.
Fanny Mahou, a finalist on the TV show Le Meilleur Pâtissier (The Best Pastry Chef), will be the godmother of this edition. She will host parent-child pastry workshops (5€/person, 10€/duo), requiring pre-registration but payment on-site, as well as live demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 PM. Her book, Pâtissez avec vos enfants ! (Bake with your children!), will also be featured with book signing sessions.
The program will showcase the creativity of professionals. On Saturday, November 14, Gérard Cabiron, a Meilleur Ouvrier de France (Best Craftsman of France) in ice cream, chocolate, and pastry, will perform a chocolate creation. On Sunday, November 15, master chocolatier Bernard Manguin will craft an artistic chocolate piece, available for purchase afterward. Local chefs from establishments like Le Patio, Le Miramar, Au petit bonheur, and Maison Conges will also offer live cooking demonstrations.
The fair will explore the journey of chocolate, from cocoa bean to bar. On Friday afternoon, students from the André-Quet school in Le Grau du Roi will participate in an educational activity with partner Kaoka, detailing the transformation stages. Screenings followed by tastings, meetings with artisans, and chocolate and wine pairings, including an event titled 'Voyage à Madagascar' (Journey to Madagascar) on Saturday at 6 PM, will complete the rich program.
The event, organized by the City of Le Grau du Roi in partnership with Kaoka and ici Gard Lozère, is designed for all audiences with tastings, activities, games, and surprises. Mayor Charly Crespe and the municipal council look forward to this event focused on sharing and artisanal know-how.
