Xisco Fuentes, a painter from Majorca, has set up his easel in the streets of Samatan, where his daughter lives. Iconic locations like the fountain, Place Bellefontaine, and the market have served as subjects for three of his new works.
With forty years of experience, Xisco Fuentes is known for his work on old tools and threatened industrial heritage, which he calls 'industrial archaeology'. He also creates striking portraits of men and women, depicting 'faces of forgotten conflicts'.
An online article describes the artist as 'an artist committed to testifying about what is about to disappear'. The hope is that this maxim does not apply to the preservation of Samatan's heritage.
An exhibition of the artist's work in the town is being considered for the spring.
