Facing the water situation, the Haute-Garonne prefecture has updated the order to regulate water management. Water withdrawal restriction measures, particularly for watering and washing, are detailed according to the « Reinforced Alert » level for tap water and « Vigilance » for water in rivers and streams.
In Auzeville-Tolosane, several restrictions now apply: watering of vegetable gardens is prohibited from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; watering of lawns, flower beds, and ornamental gardens is restricted, except for trees and shrubs under 3 years old (limited to twice a week between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m.).
Watering of sports fields is also prohibited from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and limited to twice a week between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. Washing of private vehicles and nautical equipment by individuals, as well as cleaning of facades, roofs, sidewalks, and other waterproofed surfaces, are prohibited.
Filling or emptying private swimming pools is prohibited, except for topping up or if construction began before the water restrictions. Supplying public and private open-loop fountains is also forbidden.
The prefecture reminds that « water is a precious resource, essential in these times of heatwave for everyday needs » and invites all users to take all necessary water-saving measures. Violators face a fine of up to €15,000.
