The Occitanie Development Agency (AD’OCC), in partnership with the Occitanie Region and 14 other institutions, has released the findings of a comprehensive survey on the region's tourist clientele. Conducted over a year, from March 2025 to March 2026, the study surveyed 47,041 visitors, including both tourists and day-trippers, on leisure and business trips.
The primary objective of this initiative was to better understand visitor profiles, motivations, and practices to identify Occitanie's key attractiveness factors. This data will inform the territory's future tourism strategies.
The results, published in October 2026, highlight a high level of general satisfaction: 97% of tourists reported being satisfied with their stay, with 58% being very satisfied. The beauty of the landscapes is cited as a primary motivation by 44% of respondents. Furthermore, 81% of visitors had previously stayed in their chosen holiday department within the last five years, indicating notable loyalty.
On average, a tourist spends €63 per day, excluding transport. The survey also reveals a significant improvement in the destination's image, with a 17-point increase in tourists having a very positive image of Occitanie after their stay. The study also provides insights into territorial specificities, declared eco-responsible practices, and the economic impact of stays.
These findings serve as a valuable resource for tourism stakeholders, enabling them to adapt their offerings to visitor expectations. The full summary of results and the press kit are available on the professional tourism website for Occitanie.
