Marc Péré has been elected senator for Haute-Garonne, an honor and responsibility he fully acknowledges. He aims to remain a local representative, close to residents and attentive to local officials, to champion the issues of the municipality and the department.
Although not belonging to any political party, his list was supported by several left-wing and environmentalist forces. In the Senate, he will sit with the Ecologist – Solidarity and Territories group.
As the law prohibits holding both a senator and a mayor position simultaneously, Marc Péré will step down as mayor of L'Union in the coming weeks. The municipal council will meet on November 9 to elect his successor and continue the work initiated with the team elected last March.
He emphasized that leaving the mayoralty does not mean leaving L'Union. He will remain a municipal councilor, continue to live there, and act for the town, with his senatorial mandate serving as an additional means to defend L'Union.
After twelve years as mayor, Marc Péré expressed the deep bond he shares with the town and its inhabitants, stating that L'Union is his city and he will remain fully committed to it. He thanked everyone who has accompanied him on this collective adventure.
