Welcomed at the House of Veterans, the young council members learned about the role of the Souvenir Français (French Remembrance) association and its commitment to preserving the memory of soldiers who died for France. This exchange aimed to highlight the importance of passing on this heritage to future generations.
The visit continued at the Saint-Gérard cemetery. Wearing caps in the colors of the Souvenir Français, the children laid flowers on the graves in the military square, taking concrete action in their duty of remembrance.
Present alongside the young elected officials were Paulette Gougeon, Mayor of Lunel, Pascal Chabert, Deputy Mayor for Citizenship, and Souad Gimenez, Municipal Councilor for Youth and Participatory Democracy.
Beyond its symbolic gesture, this initiative allowed the children to engage in a process of transmission and respect, strengthening their sense of citizenship from a young age.
