The Stop Isolation for Seniors (SIA) initiative, launched in 2025, is expanding its reach to Mauguio and Palavas-les-Flots since September 2026, aiming to better identify and support isolated elderly individuals in the Pays de l'Or region.

The program, designed to identify isolated elderly people, foster social connections, and guide them to appropriate resources, initially launched in La Grande Motte and Carnon in 2025, is now continuing its rollout. As of September 2026, the towns of Mauguio and Palavas-les-Flots have joined this initiative.
Along the coast of the Pays de l'Or, the aging population is a significant trend, with over half of residents in both La Grande Motte and Palavas-les-Flots being 60 years or older. This demographic shift can sometimes be accompanied by a less visible reality: the isolation of seniors.
To address this challenge, the Centre Intercommunal d’Action Sociale (CIAS) du Pays de l’Or, in partnership with the Transdisciplinary Institute for the Study of Aging (ITEV), the Carsat, and the Departmental Council of Hérault, launched the Stop Isolation for Seniors (SIA) initiative in 2025. This pilot project, planned for four years, aims to better identify individuals experiencing isolation and prevent situations of vulnerability.
Data collected between June 2025 and May 2026 in the pilot towns of La Grande Motte and Carnon confirmed the need for such a program. The initiative has now extended to Mauguio and Palavas-les-Flots, with a gradual deployment planned to cover all municipalities in the Pays de l’Or by 2028.
Further partnerships are being considered with specialized associations such as Les Petits Frères des Pauvres, Monalisa, and the Service Civique Solidarité Seniors (SC2S), to further strengthen the local support network for the elderly. The core objective remains the same: to enable every senior to maintain a social life, human presence, and a recognized place in society.
