The municipality of Pignan has completed the installation of 11 new biodéchet collection bins within its territory, aiming to simplify food waste sorting and reduce household garbage.

The new bins, accessible 24/7, are maintained through two weekly collections and regular washing. An interactive map of voluntary drop-off points has also been updated to help residents locate bins near their homes.
This new system, featuring 11 bins distributed across the communal territory, aims to ensure coherent coverage and facilitate biodéchet disposal. Two locations, rue du Collège and chemin du Bois (n° 11), still require concrete slabs to be laid before bin installation, with the date to be announced later.
The current collection in the orange bin, initially scheduled to end on October 5th, will be extended until October 23rd. The new bins will be installed on October 19th and 20th, according to the provisional schedule. This transition is intended to ensure service continuity without interruption.
Residents can continue to use their orange bins until the new collection points are fully operational. The planned collection locations are: 401, Avenue de la Bornière, 20, Rue des Érables, 22, Rue Edmond Halley, 300, Rue des Condamines, 4 bis, Avenue du Général de Gaulle, 1, Rue de la Vertoublane, 67, Avenue du Général Grollier, 80, Rue Jean Ferrat, 1, Rue Joe Dassin, 76, Allée de la Liberté, and 8, Avenue Sainte-Cécile.
This system, gradually rolled out since May 2023 in the metropolitan area's municipalities, aims to simplify source sorting of food waste and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill or incineration. Using a ventilated bio-bin and kraft paper bags is recommended for disposal.
