The twinning between Portiragnes and Vieille-Brioude, established in 2001, has reached its 25th year. This friendship, forged over the years through shared celebrations, trips, and reunions, was commemorated during a silver jubilee that brought together residents from both communities.
After being warmly welcomed in Vieille-Brioude last June, the residents of Portiragnes opened their doors for this celebration. Mayor Gwendoline Chaudoir and Mayor of Vieille-Brioude, Pierre Philis, highlighted the significance of this lasting bond.
The leaders of the twinning associations, Michèle Roche (Vieille-Brioude) and Daniel Bertrand (Portiragnes), along with volunteers and former presidents, were warmly thanked for their commitment. "If this flame of fraternity burns so brightly today, it is also thanks to all of you, the presidents and volunteers of our two associations. I want to express my sincere gratitude," stated the Mayor.
To mark this anniversary, a commemorative plaque, donated by the twinning association of Portiragnes, was unveiled by both mayors. Installed on the town's wine press, a symbol of the land and conviviality, it also honors the generosity of Mr. Paul Combarnous, who previously gifted the press to the commune.
The day continued with a musical dinner, preceded by an exchange of memories between the associations and municipalities, recalling the many shared moments over these 25 years of camaraderie.
