The municipality of Saint-André-de-Sangonis has initiated a collaboration with the Establishment and Service for Work Support (ESAT) of Montpellier for the maintenance of its cemeteries and, potentially, its public gardens and playgrounds starting from January 2027.

Workers with disabilities are currently involved in the maintenance of the town's cemeteries, including those in Sainte-Brigitte, Cambous, and Saint-André-de-Sangonis. A more lasting partnership is being considered from January 2027, with the aim of extending these interventions to the upkeep of public gardens and playgrounds.
René Garro, deputy in charge of urban planning and mobility, highlights the dual benefit of this initiative: "First, it's about improving the maintenance of these sites, which require careful attention throughout the year. Thanks to this approach, the municipality also gives a social and inclusive dimension to some of its services."
This adapted framework thus combines public utility with social connection. "Engaging an ESAT allows people with disabilities to engage in an activity, develop their skills, and concretely participate in the life of the municipality. It's a very tangible way to promote inclusion through work and foster local solidarity."
