La Fabrique des savoirs, in collaboration with the Heritage Services of the City of Figeac, is hosting a conference on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Salle Roger Laval. The event, titled "The Powers of FIGEAC in the Middle Ages: Six Centuries of Evolution," will delve into the city's history.
During the Middle Ages, Figeac witnessed the emergence, coexistence, and sometimes opposition of various forms of power, both civil and religious. The abbot's role, the bourgeoisie's desire for autonomy, and the French king's arbitration all shaped not only governance but also the city's urban planning and architecture.
Benjamin Philip, head of the heritage service for Figeac and the Grand-Figeac Pays d’art et d’histoire, will lead this conference. He will highlight the power dynamics and influences at play in the city during that era.

Complementing the conference, a guided tour focusing on the medieval power sites and their evolution will be offered on Saturday, October 10, at 3:00 PM. This tour, lasting approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, will be led by Didier BUFFAROT.
