The lack of rain since the beginning of the month has led to a significant degradation in the flow of the Cayla river, the main resource for Saint-Céré's drinking water production. Consequently, a new municipal order restricting water usage came into effect on Monday, September 28th, 2026.
These restrictions apply throughout the commune and prohibit, among other things, the washing of vehicles, except in stations equipped with water recycling systems. Filling and topping up of private swimming pools are also forbidden.
It is also prohibited to wash streets, sidewalks, terraces, facades, and roofs, unless necessary for public health. Watering of lawns, ornamental green spaces, and flowerbeds is restricted and forbidden between 8 AM and 8 PM.
The municipality urges all residents to adopt a reasoned use of water in their daily lives to conserve this essential resource.
