During the European Heritage Days, an event focused on hedges took place under the shade of the trees at the Conservatory of Old Crafts in Donzac. About fifteen participants attended this workshop, led by the association Campagnes vivantes 82.
Participants first learned to identify 7 species of wild trees and shrubs. They then discovered their traditional uses through the wooden objects displayed at the Conservatory, showcasing crafts of the past.
The workshop concluded with a discussion on 'pollarded trees'. This ancient farming practice, still relevant today for fodder and firewood, is also valuable for biodiversity, as these hollowed trees provide shelter for numerous mammals, birds, and insects.
The association Campagnes vivantes, in partnership with the Communauté de communes, regularly organizes countryside outings. A new outing will be offered to residents soon.
