Initiated by President Patrick PRADINES, this gathering echoes the call from the Association of Mayors of France (AMF) following events that affected several municipalities, including Limoges and Marseille. These acts of violence, sometimes directly targeting municipal institutions, raise serious concerns about the difficulties local elected officials face in their duties.
Mayors, municipal councilors, inter-municipal councilors, and local agents are committed daily to serving residents. Violence against local authorities, their representatives, and their facilities undermines this commitment and the republican principles.
The consequences of these acts also affect economic actors, with businesses and professionals seeing their activity disrupted, establishments damaged, or working conditions disturbed, thus weakening the local economy.
This gathering will be an opportunity for Lomagne's elected officials to express their support for the affected municipalities, their teams, mobilized agents, as well as the victimized shopkeepers and professionals. They also commend the commitment of emergency services and law enforcement.
Beyond condemnation, restoring civil peace and preserving coexistence requires collective mobilization. Everyone has a responsibility in preventing violence and respecting institutions so that dialogue can occur without hindrance.
