This Thursday, October 15th, about sixty merchants from the city center and business zones responded to the municipality's invitation at the Hall de Paris. The meeting focused on dialogue and action to enhance the town's commercial appeal.
In the presence of the Mayor, Any Delcher, deputy for commerce and attractiveness, Pierrette Esquieu, municipal councilor delegated to the open-air market, Stéphane Foures, head of the municipal police, and Aude Cance, project manager for "Petites Villes de Demain," the discussions lasted over two hours. They allowed for a review of recent commercial activity and a frank discussion of future challenges.

The Mayor presented the action plan for the coming months, including the renovation of the covered market's roof, the preservation project for the Abbey, the relocation of the tourist office to be closer to visitor flows, a co-financed study with VNF for the accessibility of the Poste footbridge, improvements to the signage of the Saint Jacques paths, an increase in parking spaces, a review of the open-air market, and lighting for the Patus. These ongoing or planned projects demonstrate the municipal commitment to developing Moissac and strengthening its appeal.
Any Delcher highlighted the town's efforts in festive and cultural events, from the major Pentecost and summer festivals to the essential Christmas events, which also help attract visitors and support commercial activity. Last summer's Medieval Festival, along with last year's sound and light show at the Abbatiale, brought recognition to the town throughout the department. She announced an extension of the Christmas market, a 2027 edition of the Medieval Festival, a new event for July 14th to be revealed soon, and the continuation of summer concerts in July and August on the Abbatiale's Parvis.
Merchants voiced concerns about public safety, incivilities, dangerous scooter circulation, and the cleanliness of public spaces. The summer reinforcement of police staff, modernization of video surveillance, and the planned creation of a canine unit illustrate the town's actions in this regard. The mayor stated that the gendarmerie has been asked to increase anti-crime operations (OAD) in the city center.
To sustain these exchanges, a quarterly working group will be established, bringing together merchants and the municipality. Fiscal measures for business creation and recovery, as well as upcoming training sessions on artificial intelligence organized with local economic partners, were also presented to the merchants.
The next event will be the year-end festivities, including a window display game organized from December 19th to January 4th, designed to encourage families to explore the town center and rediscover its diverse commercial offerings.
