As part of the 'Fête de la science', themed 'Savory Flavors' this year, the Science Village was held in Sorèze, bringing together researchers, associations, and enthusiasts. The event, coordinated in Occitanie by Instant Science, offered over 600 activities across the region, including about twenty workshops and participatory experiments in Sorèze.
The official launch of the Sorèze edition took place on Thursday, October 8th, marked by the discovery of the Science Village starting at 4 PM, followed at 6:30 PM by the inauguration of the Cité de Sorèze's new natural history cabinet. These two events highlighted the synergy between heritage, culture, and science.
October 8th and 9th were dedicated to schoolchildren. Students from CE1, CE2, CM1, and CM2 at the public school René-Bénazech participated in fun workshops, including a Moon survival simulation, stimulating their logic and teamwork.
Over the weekend, on October 10th and 11th, from 2 PM to 6 PM, the Science Village opened its doors to the public for free. An immersive activity centered around an 18th-century explorer allowed visitors to discover how explorations contributed to knowledge of peoples, territories, fauna, flora, and natural sciences.
By hosting this event and inaugurating its natural history cabinet, Sorèze showcased the intersection of heritage, culture, and scientific knowledge, reminding us that curiosity can be cultivated at any age.
