Organic livestock farms benefit from a temporary extension of derogation for the purchase of certain non-organic fodder, given the current climatic conditions.

In response to the current climatic conditions, a derogation allowing organic livestock farms to purchase certain non-organic fodder has been temporarily extended. This measure aims to support farmers in managing their supplies.
The feed now covered by this exceptional measure includes cereal silage and cereal co-products (dry or wet distillers' grains), maize (whole plant or ear silage), molasses, forage vegetables and roots such as beetroots, beet pulp (pressed or dehydrated), as well as cereal straw (excluding litter) and protein crop straw.
It is imperative to submit a derogation request to INAO before any purchase. The authorized feed must be non-GMO or derived from non-GMOs. They are limited to 10% of the dry matter (DM) ration, all concerned feed combined. This authorization is valid for the period from August 18, 2026 until the next grazing period, and at the latest until April 30, 2027. Compliance with these conditions may be verified by the certifying body.
To submit a request, farmers must go to the DérogBio platform. It is reminded not to proceed with any purchase before obtaining the derogation.
