The palliative care unit team, in partnership with DAC09, organized World Palliative Care Day on October 9th at CHIVA. This annual event seeks to raise public and healthcare professional awareness regarding the crucial importance of palliative care. These services are intended for individuals with serious illnesses or at the end of life, aiming to enhance their quality of life by alleviating pain and providing physical, psychological, and social support.
Observed globally, this day serves as an opportunity to highlight the challenges associated with access to palliative care and to promote better management of patients and their families. It also allows for the recognition and appreciation of the vital work performed by caregivers and volunteers dedicated to this support.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to establish these services as a fundamental right for patients experiencing suffering. Over time, this day has contributed to increased awareness among health authorities and encouraged the integration of palliative care into public policies both nationally and internationally.
