The Communauté de communes des Portes d’Ariège Pyrénées (CCPAP) actively participated on October 6th in the Biodiversity Day. This event, organized by the Departmental Directorate of Territories (DDT) and the Prefecture, took place at the agricultural high school in Pamiers, in partnership with the PNR PA and Ana-CEN Ariège. The day aimed to inform elected officials, stakeholders, and professionals of the territory about biodiversity issues.
The objectives set for this day included understanding the specific challenges of Ariège and the Pyrenees, integrating biodiversity into territorial projects, identifying available regulatory and financial tools, showcasing innovative local projects, and fostering synergies among various actors, including citizens. Particular emphasis was placed on giving a voice to elected officials.
Monique Dupré-Godfrey, Vice-President in charge of ecological transition, mobility, and environment, was present alongside Oriane Vézian, environmental project manager. They presented the CCPAP's biodiversity initiatives, notably within the framework of its recognition as a Territory committed to nature (TEN).
Discussions focused on concrete topics such as the planting of field hedges, the integration of biodiversity in the development of the Gabrielat II business zone, and the new TEN objectives for the 2025-2028 period, including the restoration of ecological continuities, environmental education, and the preservation of the dark ecological network.
The CCPAP also unveiled its Biodiversity Atlas, developed in collaboration with ANA-CEN Ariège, as well as its environmental awareness projects, including a day dedicated to waste prevention planned for Bénagues in 2026.
This day successfully highlighted available tools and funding, and presented inspiring projects for territorial action. The richness of the interventions and the mix of testimonials from elected officials and technicians provided local actors with valuable information to guide their actions, demonstrating the importance of biodiversity for their territories. The event was appreciated by partners as a place for exchange and networking.
