The Pyrenean Piedmont Path (GR®78), which connects the Mediterranean to the Atlantic and leads to Santiago de Compostela, has seen its 140 km Ariège section enhanced with a new facility. The association Le Chemin de Saint-Jacques du Piémont pyrénéen en Ariège-Pyrénées has set up a resting point for walkers leaving Saint-Girons.
A bench has thus been installed on Fernand-Loubet Avenue, in the Sières district, at the association's initiative. This project was welcomed by the deputy mayors of Saint-Girons, Julie Cep and Nathalie Caujolle, who met with the departmental president Marie Rustayisire, Danielle Pélata representing the Couserans association, and several members from across the Ariège.
The installation of this bench was carried out by the technical services of the city of Saint-Girons.
