This initiative, presented as a first in France, is part of Carcassonne Agglo's strategy to develop innovative and sustainable mobility solutions. The new line operates like a conventional bus route, with designated stops, but without the need for advance booking by passengers.
The system aims to simplify daily commutes and offer an alternative to single-occupancy vehicle use. Passengers can go to a dedicated stop, scan a QR code, and wait for a driver. The journey is free for passengers, while drivers are compensated per trip, with costs covered by the Agglo and attractive remuneration.
Since 2023, the partnership with Daily has already seen notable success, with over 12,000 registered users on the app and nearly 5,000 monthly trips recorded last March. This new experimental line, following the route of bus line A, aims to make carpooling a daily habit and contribute to reducing CO₂ emissions.
Didier Carbonnel, Vice-President for Mobility at Carcassonne Agglo, highlighted the importance of this solution in light of the current economic climate and fuel costs. Philippine Heron, Partnerships Director at Daily, praised the local authority's role as a pioneer in driving change to alter mobility habits.
Key figures for the initiative include nearly 100,000 trips completed since its launch, a monthly record of 4,928 trips in March 2026, over 500,000 kg of CO₂ saved, and more than 12,000 people registered on the application.
