Around one hundred teenagers, aged 11 to 17, participated in a day dedicated to understanding information and combating disinformation. This event, titled 'Info or Fake?', took place on Thursday, October 29, 2026, in Conques-sur-Orbiel, bringing together young people from the 17 Carcassonne Agglo youth centers.
This project, led by the Educational Policy Unit of Carcassonne Agglo with support from the CAF of Aude, aims to teach young people how to understand information, verify sources, identify disinformation mechanisms, and form their own judgments. Participants had been working on this theme since the start of the school year and during the Toussaint holidays.
The day was divided into several areas. One group attended a participatory theater performance on the theme of conspiracy theories. Others explored journalism with RCF reporter Nathalie de Soos, or learned about podcast creation and radio show recording with the association Les Francas.
In the foyer, a 'youth market' featured workshops and mini-games designed by the young people themselves, focusing on disinformation and image manipulation. Marie-Pierre Gaudan, Vice-President of Carcassonne Agglo for Youth Affairs, was present to see the young people's work.
This initiative allowed young people to meet and exercise their critical thinking skills, an essential competence in the current era of information, social media, fake news, and artificial intelligence.
