The 28th edition of the Apple, Wine, and Rice Fair will be held in Aigues-Vives on Sunday, October 11, from 9 AM to 6 PM. This agricultural event, which promotes local products, was presented at a press conference at Carcassonne Agglo.
André Bonnet, vice-president of Carcassonne Agglo for Agriculture and Viticulture, emphasized the agglomeration's commitment to supporting these events. The mayor of Aigues-Vives, Jean-Pierre Oms, and his deputies were also present, highlighting the collective nature of the event.
This year, 63 producers and about ten artisans are expected. The municipal park will host around ten caterers, joined by winemakers around noon. Numerous free activities are planned throughout the day, including a 'guinguette' (open-air cafe), wooden games, a bouncy castle, and pony rides.
Pascale Fabre, first deputy mayor of Aigues-Vives, mentioned that a dietitian will be present to introduce apples and other products. Two main attractions will punctuate the day: freshly pressed apple juice distributed regularly and apple compote offered to visitors at 3:30 PM.
The aim of this day is to raise public awareness about agricultural challenges, including the current difficult economic climate, fallow land, water supply issues, and the struggle to find successors for farming professions. The fair seeks to promote farming practices and share social and environmental issues through encounters, exchanges, and taste.
The fair, which typically attracts 3000 to 4000 visitors, will take place at the municipal park. It is possible to reserve a meal prepared by caterer Bérail at the municipal hall for €30 per person. Information and reservations can be made at 04 68 79 29 20.
