The La Peyrière photovoltaic power plant project, located in Fontcouverte, Aude, is subject to a public consultation due to its potential impact on protected species. The construction of this facility necessitates the destruction and removal of protected plant species, as well as the capture, removal, and destruction of resting and breeding habitats for 66 protected fauna species. These include 45 bird species, 10 bat species, 4 amphibian species, 6 reptile species, and 1 insect species.
This impact on protected species requires obtaining a derogation from strict species protection, in accordance with Article L411-2 of the Environmental Code. In line with the Charter of the Environment, the public is invited to review this request and submit their observations.
The consultation is being conducted exclusively electronically, based on the derogation request file. Observations can be submitted between September 29, 2026, and October 13, 2026. The complete file is available for download. The final decision will be published in the administrative acts gazette of the Aude prefecture and on the DREAL Occitanie website.
