Le Cadran Ségali, known for its weekly beef cattle market in Baraqueville, tried a new approach on Thursday, October 22, by organizing its first sale of breeding animals. The goal was to establish a new meeting point for breeders.
Nearly 70 animals were gathered for this inaugural event, reflecting interest in the initiative. However, transactions did not fully meet expectations, with the economic climate and the consequences of the summer drought influencing buyers' decisions, resulting in not all animals finding buyers.
Despite a mixed commercial outcome, the experience is considered valuable. Cédric Soulié, president of Le Cadran Ségali, highlighted that this fair helped introduce the market to new individuals and showcase its facilities to a different audience.
The event may be repeated, potentially choosing a more favorable period for inter-farm exchanges to boost transactions. This first attempt, despite varied results, opens up possibilities for Le Cadran Ségali and reinforces its commitment to evolving its services for the livestock sector.
