A special screening took place Friday evening at the Quartier Jeunes (QJ) in Saint-Affrique, marking the conclusion of the « Respire et Agir » project. Animators and teenagers invited parents and local elected officials to view the short films they had produced. This initiative, a collaboration with the CPIE du Rouergue since mid-September, aimed to educate young people about air quality issues, everyday pollution sources, and individual actions they can take.
Stéphane Mallavan, the center's manager, emphasized the importance of empowering young people as active participants in these projects. "At the Quartier Jeunes, we want young people to be actors in the projects and to make them their own. They were very interested in this theme," he commented. The idea of creating short films quickly gained the adolescents' support.
Following discussions on air quality topics and reflection on the messages to convey, the budding young directors and actors worked under the guidance of the QJ animators and the CPIE facilitator. The outcome of this collective effort was presented in the presence of Régine Soulier, deputy for school affairs and youth policy, and Johanna Finato, municipal councilor delegated to youth projects. Both officials praised the quality of the project and the involvement of the young participants.
This project highlights the Quartier Jeunes's commitment to shaping future citizens. The video created by the young people is available on YouTube and is 2 minutes and 39 seconds long.
