After significant rainfall, the Prefect of Gard, Fabienne Decottignies, has lifted the water restrictions that were in place across the department.

Following substantial precipitation in late September and early October, a consultation of EPTBs took place on October 6 and 7, 2026, to assess the situation of the Gard's watercourses and aquifers.
Analysis of the contributions indicates that the main watercourses are showing flows above seasonal vigilance thresholds, and most aquifers have returned to average levels for the season. A decrease in water demand and cooler temperatures are also anticipated.
Under these conditions, Fabienne Decottignies, Prefect of the Gard, has decided to repeal prefectural order no. 30-2026-08-21-00001 of August 21, 2026, which had imposed temporary restrictions on water usage.
