The City of Nîmes, through its CCAS, is mobilizing for the National Caregivers' Day on Tuesday, October 6th, hosting an event focused on support and exchange.

As part of the National Caregivers' Day, the City of Nîmes, in partnership with the Departmental Council of Gard, is organizing an event dedicated to individuals who support their loved ones daily. The gathering will take place on Tuesday, October 6th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Communal Social Action Center (CCAS), located at 14 rue des Chassaintes.
This day will feature meetings, information stands, and activities aimed at raising awareness about the essential role of caregivers. Professionals present will address crucial topics such as access to rights, health, respite solutions at home or in facilities, as well as well-being and leisure.
The event, designed by and for caregivers and professionals, will highlight about fifty support solutions. The theater company « La compagnie des Autres » will present a forum theater performance, inspired by real-life situations, to foster reflection and exchange on the challenges faced by caregivers.
According to DREES data from 2023, 8.8 million adults and 0.5 million minors are close caregivers in France. A departmental study indicates that 93% of caregivers in Gard feel the need to take time for themselves, yet only 19% utilize respite solutions. 76% wish to be informed about local support services.
The provisional program includes an opening with a wake-up exercise at 10 a.m., the official inauguration at 11 a.m., forum theater from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and a closing at 4 p.m..
