The City of Nîmes and Nîmes Métropole are calling for participation in a "clean walk" on Saturday, November 14. The aim is to bring together residents, associations, sports clubs, and businesses for a friendly walk dedicated to waste collection in the city's different neighborhoods. Local stakeholders such as USAM Nîmes Gard, Nîmes Olympique, and the Rugby Club Nîmois have already confirmed their participation.
This initiative is part of the "Nîmes ville propre" (Clean City Nîmes) plan, which aims to strengthen cleaning efforts and combat incivilities. The appeal emphasizes that the cleanliness of public spaces also depends on everyone's daily actions. The November 14 event is designed as a moment for positive mobilization, conviviality, and collective pride. The Mayor of Nîmes, Vincent Bouget, expressed his wish for this day to reflect the spirit of Nîmes: popular, friendly, and full of energy.
The ambition is to collect abandoned waste and restore the sparkle to the neighborhoods, with the hope of maintaining this cleanliness long-term. Volunteers wishing to get more involved can become coordinators and information relays by writing to cleanwalk2026@ville-nimes.fr. An information meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 2, at 6 PM at the Maison des associations, 2 impasse Jean-Macé in Nîmes.
For those who wish to participate on the day itself, 8 meeting points will be set up in different neighborhoods of Nîmes. The City and Nîmes Métropole will provide the necessary equipment and safety instructions. Participation is open to everyone: individuals, families, neighbors, associations, clubs, or colleagues. Animation initiatives are also welcome by writing to the dedicated email address.
The meeting is scheduled for Saturday, November 14, at 10 AM at the 8 gathering points: Nîmes Ouest - Saint Césaire (Place Roger Bastide); Garrigues Nord (Place Saint Charles); Grézan - Chemin Bas d’Avignon (Square Pierre Bourdan); Nîmes Centre (on Jean-Jaurès, between rue du Mail and rue du Cirque Romain; Square de la Couronne); Garrigues Ouest (Collège Jean Rostand); Courbessac - Mas de Mingue (Square Agrippa-d’Aubigné); Costières (Avenue de la Méditerranée).
