This winter, Paloma, the contemporary music and creation venue of Nîmes Métropole, will undertake a major renovation project in its entrance hall. From December 1, 2026, to February 28, 2027, public concerts will be temporarily suspended to allow for floor renovation work. However, the venue assures that studios, artist support, residencies, cultural outreach, and team activities will continue as usual during this period.
The floor of the "yellow hall", extending from the entrance near the studios to the emergency exit by the Grande Salle, has shown a construction defect for several years. The resin is progressively cracking, no longer ensuring optimal safety conditions for public reception. The renovation of these approximately 300 m² has become necessary and will be financially covered by insurance.
Nîmes Métropole, the building's owner, supports this project, from the public tender to coordination with the selected companies: architecture firm Tetrarc and company La Provençale de Peinture. The new floor will be made of tiles, which are easier to maintain and replace individually if damaged, offering a simpler solution for future interventions.
The decision to carry out this work outside the summer period, which is too hot for such renovations, aims to minimize the impact on Paloma's activities. Winter is the least disruptive period for activities and public reception, allowing the work to be completed while preserving most of the venue's year-round operations.
During the renovation period, only the performance activity (concerts) will be interrupted. Rehearsal studios will remain accessible to musicians throughout the work. Artist residencies will gradually resume from mid-December, as the construction progresses. The artistic support department will continue its activities, and cultural outreach will proceed with its workshops and interventions. Administrative teams will remain fully engaged, dedicating these three months in particular to writing Paloma's next artistic and cultural project for the 2027-2030 period.
Paloma will resume its concerts on March 5, 2027, in the Grande Salle, with Sam Sauvage. Until then, the venue offers over fifty concerts and public events.
