The municipality of Saint-Hilaire-de-Brethmas invites its residents to gather on Sunday, October 18th, for a morning of solidarity and prevention as part of October Rose. The initiative, named 'Saint-Hilaire en Rose,' aims to make the fight against breast cancer a moment of collective, intergenerational mobilization.
Since the beginning of the month, the town hall has been adorned in pink, illuminated and decorated with pink umbrellas, symbolizing the visibility of this cause and reminding that awareness should extend beyond a few weeks.
The highlight of this mobilization will take place on Sunday, October 18th. Starting at 9 AM, residents are expected in front of the town hall. At 10 AM, a free 5-kilometer solidarity walk, accessible to all, will begin after a collective warm-up. No prior registration is required, encouraging participation with family or friends.
Throughout the morning, prevention stakeholders and associations will be present to inform and engage with participants, emphasizing the importance of screening and the support provided to those affected by the disease.
The mobilization will kick off on Saturday, October 17th, with a women's cycling event organized by the club Cyclo Évasion Saint-Hilaire-de-Brethmas.
“"Sometimes, the greatest gesture is simply showing someone they are not alone."
Gaël Mancuso, mayor of Saint-Hilaire-de-Brethmas, highlights the human message of this day: 'Behind breast cancer, there are women fighting, families worrying, loved ones accompanying. There are moments of fear, moments of courage, sometimes victories, and sometimes absences that leave an immense void. I deeply believe that in these trials, no one should feel alone. We cannot always alleviate the pain, nor find the right words. But we can be present, offer a hand, and show that we are there. On October 18th, I would like Saint-Hilaire to gather for all these women. For those fighting today, for those who have gone through this ordeal, and for those who have left us. And above all, to remind how important prevention and screening are.'
An invitation is extended for Sunday, October 18th, starting at 9 AM, in front of the town hall of Saint-Hilaire-de-Brethmas, to walk together for those who are fighting, those who have fought, and those we can still protect.
