The Gers Department has formalized the signing of four new loans, totaling €6.07 million, with the Banque des Territoires to finance structuring projects for the territory's future, particularly in the areas of colleges, sustainable mobility, water, and road infrastructure.
In preamble to the National Congress of the Association of Rural Mayors of France, held in Auch, the Department of Gers and the Banque des Territoires formalized the signing of four new loans. These funds will support several key projects led by the Department across the territory, covering colleges, sustainable mobility, water, and road infrastructure.
In total, €6,075,656 will be mobilized through 25-year loans from the Banque des Territoires to support four operations related to the Department's major responsibilities. These loans aim to finance investments whose effects will have a lasting impact on the territory's life.
Investments are allocated as follows: €3,406,398 for the energy renovation of school buildings, including the renovation of the college in Gimont, repairs following a incident at the college in Fleurance, and heating and air conditioning operations. For sustainable mobility, €986,250 will fund infrastructure such as the Marsan-Aubiet cycle path and the extension of the Voie verte de l’Armagnac. Renovation of drinking water and sanitation infrastructure will receive €637,008, notably supporting the Department's participation in water policy. Finally, €1,046,000 will be dedicated to road infrastructure, including the reconstruction of the bridge in L’Isle de Noé.
The Banque des Territoires, a long-term partner, integrates these loans into its financing schemes for the local public sector. Two fall under the 'Prêt Cohésion Sociale' (Social Cohesion Loan) and two under the 'Prêt Transformation Écologique' (Ecological Transformation Loan). These loans support the Department's investment policy in public facilities, transportation, water management, and the maintenance of departmental road heritage.

"Borrowing is a way to give projects the means to succeed when they meet sustainable needs for our territory. These four loans will very concretely finance our colleges, sustainable mobility solutions, water infrastructure, and a road structure. These are investments that improve the daily lives of Gers residents today, while preparing the Gers of tomorrow. The partnership with the Banque des Territoires allows us to place them in the long term, which is the timeframe of departmental action."

"The Banque des Territoires stands alongside those working for territorial resilience and adaptation to climate change. The department of Gers is fully committed to this necessary transformation: infrastructure, economic models, and evolving uses… A global acceleration designed to anticipate tomorrow. The renovation of school buildings, securing water resources, developing green mobility, all challenges to be met together to prepare the future of rural territories by fully considering the specific needs of their populations."
