The City of Lectoure is launching a pilot "greening permit" in Rue Nationale and Rue Alsace-Lorraine, inviting citizens to contribute to the transformation of public spaces.

As part of its "Nous végétalisons" (We are greening) initiative, the City of Lectoure is inviting residents, associations, and businesses to actively participate in greening public spaces. The goal is to beautify streets, bring more coolness, promote biodiversity, and make the city center more pleasant, especially in the face of heatwaves.
The municipality is providing plants and vegetation for this initial experiment. In return, participants commit to maintaining the greened areas. Several options are available: greening around the base of a tree, along a facade, or installing a planter in the public space. In-ground planting is preferred when possible.
A selection of suitable plants, including perennials like the agapanthus or lavender, and climbing plants such as honeysuckle or clematis, is offered to ensure a lasting and varied plant presence.
The success of this project relies on participants' involvement in maintenance: removing unwanted weeds, collecting fallen leaves, watering at the base of plants, and regular pruning to avoid obstructing traffic or signage. The use of chemical products is strictly prohibited.
This experiment, conducted in Rue Nationale and Rue Alsace-Lorraine, aims to assess the interest and effects of this approach before potential expansion. The city thus wishes to involve citizens in the evolution of their living environment and encourage urban nature.
