A citizen mobilization took place on September 19th in Aucamville as part of the World Cleanup Day. Nearly 50 residents, agents, and elected officials participated in this initiative, supported by the associations REV and Les Écolubies. Participants, spread across several routes including the town center and the lake area, successfully collected a total of 165 kg of waste.
The collection results included 68 kg of household waste, 56 kg of glass, 38 kg of plastic, and 3 kg of cigarette butts. Among the unusual discoveries were tires, a computer, nitrous oxide cartridges, shoes, and even an armchair and chairs.
A concerning observation was made regarding the quantity of cigarette butts found on the ground, highlighting their significant and often underestimated impact on environmental pollution.
The municipality expressed its gratitude to all participants, the two partner associations, and the town's agents and elected officials for their commitment to this cleanup operation.
