The distinction, which values the commitment of Mayor Mathieu Lafoux and his municipal team alongside local associations and stakeholders, was presented on Thursday, October 8, at the Ernest-Wallon stadium in Toulouse. The competition was organized by La Dépêche du Midi in partnership with the Association of Mayors of France of Haute-Garonne (AMF31) and the Departmental Council.
Fonsorbes was selected for its initiatives in sports and health, notably the "Sportez-vous bien" (Stay Healthy) day, which brought together nearly 800 participants last May. This event illustrates the municipal team's desire to promote sports practice and well-being.
This award highlights the actions carried out throughout the year in prevention, awareness, and solidarity. On Saturday, November 14, a solidarity night walk and run, "Lueur pour tous" (Light for All), will be held starting from Place du Trépadé at 6:30 PM, as part of Women's Health Day. Two free routes of 4.5 km and 9 km are offered, with a scarf sale to benefit the Les RUBieS association.
On Sunday, November 15, Women's Health Day will take place at the Salle du Trépadé from 9 AM to 6 PM. The program includes meetings with health professionals and associations, prevention stands, screenings, adapted physical activities, and conferences focusing on women's cardiovascular health.
Access to healthcare is also a key issue, with an annual cardiology day organized via a cardiology bus located at Le Trépadé. Local associative life, particularly the Blood Donation association, also contributes to this dynamic.
This distinction, awarded after a vote by readers of La Dépêche du Midi, underscores the importance of local initiatives. Fonsorbes shares this award with Castelnau-d’Estrétefonds. The plaque recognizing the town was inaugurated on Monday, October 12, on the town hall facade.
