The Poudrerie footbridge, connecting Empalot to the Île du Ramier, reopened to traffic on Friday, October 30th in the late afternoon, after a five-month construction project to secure it and improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists.

After five months of work, the Poudrerie footbridge reopened to traffic on Friday, October 30th in the late afternoon. The structure, which connects Chemin de la Loge on Île du Ramier to Avenue de Lattre de Tassigny in Empalot, has undergone significant restoration to ensure its longevity and enhance safety for various users.
Originally built in the late 19th century and reconstructed in 1930, the footbridge has had its degraded metal parts repaired or replaced, rivets changed, and underwent a complete stripping under containment followed by the application of a new anti-corrosion protection system. The brick masonry piers have been restored, and the deck and sidewalks have been rebuilt and redeveloped.
Pedestrians now benefit from a single, widened sidewalk, offering safer and more comfortable travel. Cyclists can travel in both directions on the roadway, while motorized vehicle traffic remains one-way towards Île du Ramier and is limited to 20 km/h. Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are still prohibited.
The renovation project, costing 2.5 million euros, was funded by Toulouse Métropole.
