The NOUVELO brand, developed as part of the Tims program by Pays Sud Toulousain, aims to make cycling accessible to everyone by focusing on three key areas: repair, purchase, and learning to cycle, as well as testing electric-assist bicycles.
Thanks to a partnership with the resource center Recobrada, 795 bicycles destined for disposal were collected, with 454 repaired and 373 sold, giving them a second life.
To enhance accessibility, 44% of the bicycles sold were offered at a solidarity price of €40. These sales took place in stores, as well as at local markets, events, and decentralized points of sale such as at 3PA in Lahage.
NOUVELO also organized 51 free repair workshops, attended by 473 participants. Guided by a cycle technician, residents learned to maintain and repair their own bicycles, with tools and parts provided.
Furthermore, 20 'back on the saddle' sessions benefited 183 participants, particularly those looking to regain confidence on a bike or acquire the basic skills for daily cycling, with support from the teams at La Maison du Vélo de Toulouse.
In parallel, the D-marche® component of the program encouraged daily physical activity. Over 100 participants were supported through 8 programs aimed at integrating more walking into their daily routines, combining pedometer use, individual follow-up, and group dynamics. Participant feedback indicates high satisfaction and continued use of pedometers.
These three years of action have strengthened ties between local authorities, associations, social structures, integration stakeholders, cycling professionals, and mobility partners, fostering a robust local dynamic.
Although the Tims program is concluding, the need for inclusive mobility solutions remains significant. The lessons learned from these experiments will form a foundation for continued cooperation and the development of new solutions tailored to the Pays Sud Toulousain territory.
