Météo France has placed the Hérault department on red alert this Wednesday, September 30, 2026, due to heavy precipitation and significant risks of flooding and runoff. To coordinate operations, monitor the situation, and ensure everyone's safety, the Communal Safeguard Plan (PCS) was activated at the town hall at 6 AM today. The municipality of Saint-Georges-d’Orques calls on all residents to exercise extreme caution and strictly adhere to safety instructions.
The Council Hall, located on the 1st floor of La Maison des Vendangeurs, is open to welcome and secure individuals in distress or forced to leave their homes. A communal emergency transport service has been established to respond and pick up vulnerable individuals or those in absolute emergency directly from their homes if they cannot move.
Residents are advised to stay home or in a safe place and avoid any non-essential outings. It is recommended to cancel or postpone travel and not to drive unless in absolute emergency. Never venture onto submerged roads, submersible bridges, or near streams. Do not go down into basements, cellars, or garages. Stay tuned to instructions from the municipality, the Préfecture de l’Hérault, and emergency services.
The Town Hall services remain open and reachable until the end of the adverse weather event to respond to emergencies. Municipal teams, the Municipal Police, and elected officials are fully mobilized on the ground and within the crisis unit. Public facilities and communal sports facilities remain closed until further notice.
