Since May 2025, Toulouse Métropole has been expanding its network of collection bins for food waste, offering residents a new solution for sorting their kitchen and meal scraps.

Residents can now deposit their food waste in new public collection bins installed near their homes. These bins are freely accessible, and their locations are regularly updated on an interactive map.
Information stands and bio-bins are being organized in various districts of Toulouse to support citizens in this initiative. These stands provide information on food waste sorting and offer free, suitable containers.
Information sessions are also held in several municipalities within Toulouse Métropole, including Balma, Blagnac, Beauzelle, Colomiers, Cugnaux, Gratentour, Launaguet, Saint-Jean, Saint-Orens-de-Gameville, Saint-Martin-du-Touch, and Villeneuve-Tolosane, where residents can collect a bio-bin and receive information.
Food waste, which accounts for nearly a third of our trash, is transformed into resources such as energy, compost, and natural fertilizer, benefiting local farmers. Sorting is simple: deposit food waste loosely or in a kraft bag into the bins, avoiding any plastic or packaging bags.
For those living in single-family homes, individual or collective composting is encouraged. Collection bins are primarily intended for apartment dwellers, although all residents can access them freely.
