The renaturation project for the Girou river in Gragnague was developed in consultation with VINCI, as part of the compensatory measures for the A680. The primary objective was to give the watercourse more space to create wetland areas along its banks.
The authority undertook complementary work to restore the Girou's functionalities. These interventions included the creation of weirs, groynes, and islets to diversify aquatic habitats and oxygenate the water. Trees and shrubs were also planted to stabilize the banks and provide shade to the riverbed.
In total, 1070 tons of alluvial materials were deposited in the riverbed, and 950 plants were added to the existing vegetation.
