ISAE-SUPAERO, a key player in innovation in the space and aeronautics sectors, is multiplying its initiatives. Martian year 39, equivalent to nearly two Earth years, marks the beginning of an intense period for the institute, which is dedicated to projects, missions, and discoveries aimed at bringing Earth closer to the red planet.
The institute recently hosted the first in-person edition of the inter-agency workshop GNC V&V (Guidance, Navigation and Control – Validation & Verification) on July 9 and 10, 2025. This event brought together over 150 participants from academia, industry, and international space agencies.
In terms of training, ISAE-SUPAERO, in partnership with Airbus Defence and Space, has trained twenty engineers from the Peruvian space agency CONIDA in space systems. These engineers participated in a preliminary satellite design project and obtained a Certificate of Advanced Studies.
The institute is also involved in events such as the Franco-Korean Workshop on Cryogenic Hydrogen for Aviation, the Interdisciplinary Congress on Extreme Worlds (CIME 2025), and the international planetary defense mission Hera, which is studying the asteroid Dimorphos.
Space Day was celebrated on January 22, highlighting the growth of the space sector and the opportunities it offers, particularly with the upcoming space mission of Sophie Adenot, an ISAE-SUPAERO alumna.
Major scientific collaborations are underway, including participation in the ExoMars Rosalind Franklin mission for Mars exploration, and the analysis of data from the DART mission. ISAE-SUPAERO researchers also contributed to the first images from ESA's Sentinel 2c Earth observation satellite.
The institute also supports student projects, such as Martian living simulations at the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) in the United States, and research on hydrogen for sustainable aviation.
Strong industrial partnerships exist, including the CASTOR chair with Liebherr-Aerospace Toulouse for improving radial turbomachinery, and the Innovating in a World in Transition chair with Safran.
ISAE-SUPAERO continues to train future space professionals through programs such as the Space Defense Academy and the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Human Spaceflight, in partnership with the Spaceflight Institute.
Research in space systems, planetology, image sensors, and artificial intelligence is at the core of the institute's activities, with notable contributions to missions like Artemis IV and the study of Mars' moons.
