Throughout October 2026, Lourdes, in partnership with numerous associations, medical, and institutional stakeholders, is mobilizing for the 'Octobre Rose' campaign. The aim is to raise awareness about breast cancer, promote early detection, and support those affected by the disease.
The program offered is rich and accessible to all, combining prevention, sports, well-being, culture, meetings with health professionals, and convivial moments. The ambition is to inform, reassure, and encourage everyone to take care of their health.
The 'Samedis Roses de la Mammo' (Pink Mammography Saturdays), organized by the association Cap Dépistage in Lourdes and Tarbes, will kick off the month. These days will feature exchanges with professionals, workshops on self-examination, well-being, reflexology, socio-aesthetics, and will cover the stages of breast cancer care. Mammograms by appointment will be available.
On October 10 and 11, a Prevention Village will be set up at the Lourdes market. Associations, health professionals, and sports-health actors will offer practical workshops, personalized advice, and awareness activities.
On October 12, Lake Lourdes will host a morning of sports activities, including a timed race, a walk open to all, races for children, as well as animations and Dragon Boat introductions.
The mobilization will conclude on October 31 with two major events. A day dedicated to 'Breast Cancer Care' will allow the public to meet medical and paramedical specialists. Simultaneously, the Pic du Jer will host a festive day with free funicular rides for women wearing pink, free cave tours, and musical entertainment.
The detailed program includes the Prevention Village at the Lourdes market (9 AM - 1 PM), a dance animation on October 10 at 10:30 AM, races and walks at Lake Lourdes, and activities at the Pic du Jer from 10 AM to 5 PM.
