The revision process for the SCoT of the Pays du Val d’Adour is progressing through several key stages. The 'Rando SCoT' initiative allowed elected officials and partners to explore the territory during three thematic days in June and July 2025, covering diverse topics such as culture, photovoltaics, flood risks, economic development, town revitalization, agrivoltaics, and water preservation. Public meetings in Vic-en-Bigorre, Marciac, and Riscle also engaged residents in this endeavor.
During the autumn of 2025, strategic workshops focused on three major themes: Economy and Commerce, aiming to strengthen the existing fabric and support local sectors; Habitat and Centralities, to revitalize town centers while pragmatically managing hamlets; and Environment, Climate, and Water, with the goals of securing water resources and adapting to climate change.
On January 26, 2026, a territorial diagnosis and its challenges were presented to associated public bodies, including State Services, Regions, Departments, and neighboring SCoTs. The report from this restitution is available from the Pays du Val d’Adour.
A seminar for mayors was held on June 18 at the Maubourguet Town Hall to integrate new elected officials into the process, reiterate the importance of the SCoT revision, its challenges, and the initial orientations for the strategic development project.
The timeline includes the development of the strategic development project by the end of 2026, followed by work on the orientations and objectives document in early 2027. The revision project is expected to be finalized before summer 2027 for approval by the end of the year.
