In response to political violence that has affected several French cities, Mayor Aurélien Lopez-Liguori addressed the public on Monday October 19 in front of City Hall. The gathering was held to support the return of order and the defense of the Republic's values.
“"We want respect, respect for the law, for private property, for our law enforcement officers, for our institutions."
The Mayor announced the implementation of the 'casseur-payeur' (vandal-pays) principle in Agde. Those who cause damage will be held financially responsible for repairs.
Alongside the Municipal Police, National Police, and public service agents, the Municipality reaffirmed its determination to protect the citizens of Agde and preserve public tranquility.
“"In Agde, a city of high civilization founded 2,900 years ago, we will never back down on these principles."
The municipality concluded with republican slogans: 'Long live Agde, long live the Republic, and long live France!'
