Built in the late 1960s, the Vauguières plant treats water from the Bas-Rhône canal and currently supplies over 70,000 inhabitants in the low season, and up to 250,000 inhabitants during summer peaks. Facing evolving needs and climate challenges, a large-scale modernization is underway.
The project includes improving treatment equipment, modernizing electrical installations, enhancing energy performance, and securing the site.
Storage capacity will be increased to 20,000 m³ by replacing the two current reservoirs with three new 6,700 m³ structures. This increase will help manage summer consumption peaks and provide more reserves in case of production interruptions.
The total investment amounts to over €20 million excluding tax for the works, with €19 million financed by the Agglomération du Pays de l'Or. The Montpellier Water Board also participates with €3.508 million excluding tax.
This investment aims to adapt a strategic facility to the current and future needs of the territory.
