The month of October begins with two new events dedicated to parenting, organized by the Communauté de communes du Minervois au Caroux (CdCMC). These events aim to support families across 36 rural communes by offering practical advice for everyday concerns.
The first meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 6, at 6:30 PM in Olonzac, at the Salle Brassens. Marion Calas, an early childhood and parenting trainer, will lead the session "Rituals, co-sleeping, rhythm, crying. Accompanying and understanding a child's sleep." The goal is to provide concrete guidance to parents, especially as the autumn time change approaches, a period that often disrupts children's sleep patterns.
The following day, Wednesday, October 7, the Maison des Loisirs in Saint-Pons-de-Thomières will host the second meeting. Nathalie Andrade, a psychologist at the Point d’Accueil et d’Écoute Jeunes (affiliated with the Ligue de l’Enseignement de l’Hérault), will address the topic "Youth Mental Health. What if we talked about it?" This discussion takes place three days before World Mental Health Day on October 10, offering a space to discuss a still sensitive subject.
These initiatives are part of the CdCMC's social cohesion policy, supported by partnerships with the Caisse d’Allocations Familiales de l’Hérault (through the Global Territorial Convention) and the Mutualité Sociale Agricole Languedoc (through the "Growing up in Rural Areas" convention). They echo other actions such as the itinerant Early Childhood Reception Service and the "Bulle Parentale" itinerant Parent-Child Welcome Center.
Michel Carquet, vice-president in charge of Social Cohesion, emphasizes the community's commitment "from early childhood to adolescence." Jean-Pierre Lavabre, vice-president in charge of Early Childhood, Children, and Youth, adds that these exchange sessions provide "simple and immediately useful tools" for parents. Patrick Cabrol, president of the CdCMC, reiterates the community's dedication to supporting families across the entire territory.
Furthermore, an exhibition titled "L’écho de nos folies" (The Echo of Our Follies), as part of the Local Mental Health Contract, is on display at the Maison des Loisirs. It will later be presented in Olargues and Olonzac.
