Madjin, a painter, bodypainter, and muralist originally from Montpellier, presents her poetic and luminous exhibition titled 'A suspended time, a appeasement, a feeling of lightness and joy'. The event takes place at the Town Hall in Juvignac from October 1 to November 26, 2026. The exhibited works highlight the omnipresent blue color, reminiscent of the sky and the Mediterranean Sea.
A Franco-Canadian, Madjin lived for 14 years in Montreal before returning to the south. Her artist name, derived from 'Madjean', pays tribute to her grandmothers. Her multiple inspirations include stories from her grandmother of Indian origin and her travels in Africa and Latin America.
Passionate about color from a young age, Madjin developed a particular sensitivity to public space, urbanism, and ecology. She recycles her canvases, a practice initiated during her time in Quebec, to move her painting beyond its traditional frame.
The artist's deep attachment to blue is linked to her childhood in the south and the constant presence of the sky and the Mediterranean Sea. This color allows her to recreate a sense of immensity, appeasement, and lightness. Hypersensitive and hyperactive, Madjin finds in painting an essential therapeutic outlet to express her inner peace and bring color into an environment she sometimes finds too mineral.
The exhibition also explores the link between abstract and figurative art, where vibrant abstract touches blend with portraits. Madjin views art as an eternal struggle, enjoying being surprised by collaborations and artistic encounters, creating bridges between different disciplines.
The artist also discusses her collaboration with Clara Villalba for the performance 'Corps et Graphies', which combines body painting, dance, and visual arts. This performance, where the body becomes a living canvas, will soon be presented in Juvignac with dancer Julia Pal, subtly referencing art history and tribal art.
Madjin's exhibition 'Blue' can be seen at the Théodore Monod Media Library from October 1 to November 26, 2026. More information is available on the artist's website and social media.
