2026

In response to recent acts of violence and vandalism targeting public buildings and businesses in several French cities, the Town of Mèze is organizing a solidarity gathering in front of its town hall this Monday, October 19th at 6 PM.

Following a national call from the Association of Mayors of France, the municipality of Mèze will demonstrate its support for French towns affected by violence that occurred during protests on Saturday, October 17th. Cities such as Limoges, Marseille, Lille, Bordeaux, and Lyon were particularly impacted, suffering fires and damage to their public buildings, including Limoges' town hall and Lyon's tourist office.
Through this initiative, the Town of Mèze wishes to express its support for the elected officials, local government employees, residents, and shopkeepers of the affected municipalities. These acts, beyond material damage, undermine republican institutions and public freedoms.
This gathering in front of the Mèze town hall will be an opportunity to collectively reaffirm commitment to the values of the Republic, respect for public property, and living together. The Town invites all who wish to join this moment of solidarity.
