The 2026-2027 season of public conferences on geosciences, organized by Géosciences Montpellier in partnership with the Society of Horticulture and Natural History of Hérault (SHHNH), will begin on Friday, October 23, 2026. These free events, open to all, will be held once a month.
Most conferences will take place at 5:30 PM in classroom 23.01, located in building 23 of the Triolet Campus of the University of Montpellier, at 475 rue du Truel. An exception is planned for the conference on April 23, 2027, which will exceptionally be held at the SHHNH premises, at 125 rue du Moulin Sémalen in Montpellier.
The season's program includes diverse topics such as deep-sea exploration, crystallization force, the origin of oil in the Emirates, the impact of climate change on mammal evolution, continental crust deformation, the genesis of earthquakes and tsunamis, minerals, and earthquake probability assessment.
The speakers are renowned researchers and professors, including Benoît Ildefonse (CNRS Research Director), Bernard Barailler (INP-Grenoble Engineer), Françoise Boudier (Professor Emeritus), Rodolphe Tabuce (Research Fellow), Émilien Oliot (Associate Professor), Serge Lallemand (CNRS Research Director), Jean-Marie Dautria (Professor Emeritus), Alain Vauchez (Associate Professor Emeritus), and Jean-François Ritz (CNRS Research Director), all affiliated with Géosciences Montpellier or partner institutions.
